Overview of Rainwater
Different types of bacteria and other microorganisms can easily enter our drinking water. As we know, we definitely don’t want bacteria, viruses or any other microorganisms in our drinking water. After all, bacteria, viruses, protozoa and other microorganisms are known to cause infectious diseases like cholera, dysentery, polio and many more. Such harmful microorganisms are called pathogenic microorganisms.
Many of the pandemics and outbreaks of infectious diseases in history are linked to bacteria, viruses and other pathogens spreading through drinking water. The pathogens most easily affect those with lower immunity for various reasons, so the most at risk are children, the elderly and those recovering from ill health.

When sufficient UV dose is applied to drinking water, the UV radiation destroys molecular structures of the DNA/RNA of the pathogens. The damage to the DNA/RNA can be so severe that the microorganisms lose their ability to cause infections.
